How to deal with BF's EX?!?!?

Been dating each other for just shy of a year. Perfect, wonderful, great great great relationship. Since date number one has told me has a daughter (8yrs old), and I wouldn't meet her til he was serious, etc.. Which was exactly how I felt. Was on/off with daughters mom 10 yrs. Never married, never engaged. Well 8 months into relationship finally met her (I have been the only one who he has ever introduced me to her) and went great, she's a hoot. Except when his ex found out... now he has to take her to court for joint custody because she will not let him have her, barely talk to her, etc.. we don't really have the money for a attorney due to the fact we just moved in together (that went over great as well...) and while he's getting depressed and I'm livid beyond belief (ex and I have not met yet). SHE IS MOVING IN WITH HER NEW BOYFRIEND!!! AND SHE HAS INTRODUCED HIM TO HER DAUGHTER JUST WEEKS INTO IT! W T F! and I'm trying to be optimistic and try to cheer my other half up but when he gets to talk to his daughter she cries and says how much she misses him and wants to see me...then click and gets hung up on. Due to meeting with attorney her and I have to stay away from each other til they can get something settled, so that means no soccer games, no cheerleader practices.. just sit at home and cry due to frustration.. how can I get through this til we can afford to take her to court :...(
