Was it wrong that I asked if she has ever gotten STD test?

A girl I was going to hook up with got mad and accused me of calling her a hoot chi for asking is she ever got a STD or sti test. I'm 18 and I know condoms protect against a lot of things but they don't protect you from herpes or warts. So I told her I didn't want to hook up unless she got tested. Was I wrong?
